Vietnam drug seizures triple in two years

The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security announced that Vietnamese police have seized over six tonnes of drugs, including large quantities of methamphetamine, in the first quarter of 2019. This is more than was seized in the whole of 2018 and three times the amount seized in 2017. The increase is partially credited to the police having broken several drug trafficking rings in Vietnam early this year. The Ministry said that 20% of the seized drugs were intended for Vietnam with much of the rest destined for export to other countries.
