US state of West Virginia passes bill to regulate syringe exchange programmes

West Virginia state senate has approved a bill that would increase regulation of syringe exchange programmes. Despite receiving significant opposition, the bill is now being considered by the House of Delegates. If approved, syringe exchange programmes will have to be licenced and will be required to implement ‘one-for-one' rules on all needle exchanges. Concerns have been raised that the restrictive measures will have a negative impact on current harm reduction services. Source:
