US drug makers to proceed with $26 billion opioid settlement

Pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, and McKesson have agreed to proceed with a proposed $26 billion settlement to mitigate their responsibility for the US opioid epidemic. Five territories, Washington D.C, and 42 US states have signed their agreement. The first annual settlement payment is due on or before 30 September 2021.
