US doctor charged with murder over high opioid prescriptions
A doctor in New York state has been charged with several counts of second-degree murder and ‘reckless endangerment’ in relation to high levels of opioid prescribing. The opioids were allegedly given without reference to medical notes and without a medical examination. The doctor was initially arrested in 2019 and could face up to 25 years in prison if found guilty of second-degree murder.
