UK to overhaul alcohol tax duty

The UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has announced a major overhaul to alcohol tax duty. The five-point plan is due to take effect in 2023 and means that alcoholic drinks will be taxed according to their alcohol content. The move will see comparatively lower taxes on low-strength drinks and will replace the current system that was described as “outdated, complex and full of historical anomalies”.
