Ugandan government loses £325m per year in untaxed illicit alcohol

Uganda’s Alcohol Industry Association has estimated that the government loses around UGX1.6 trillion (approx. £325 million) from the illicit alcohol trade each year. The amount comprises loss of tax and the cost of enforcing existing laws around production and marketing of alcohol.
