Thousands quit smoking in Finland due to COVID-19

In a survey by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Finland, 15% of respondents said they quit smoking as a direct consequence of COVID-19 health concerns. ASH Finland has estimated that between 5,000 and 18,000 people have quit smoking since early 2020. Eighty-four percent of people who quit smoking in the survey said they did so for health reasons, compared with 73% in the same survey in 2019.
