Taiwan drafts betel nut regulations

The Taiwanese Council of Agriculture has said that it will publish regulations on betel nut cultivation and production. The new regulations will reflect current tobacco control legislation and will cover the use of pesticides and establish minimum production and distribution standards. There are currently 42,510 hectares of betel nut plantations in Taiwan producing 100,000 tons of betel nuts each year.
