Supervised injecting site to open in Ireland

Planning permission has been granted for a safer injection facility in Dublin. The facility will be run by Merchant’s Quay and has been given a three-year licence. The licence requires the organisation’s existing night shelter to move from the city centre following objections from local residents. The site will run an 18-month pilot seeking to reduce rising numbers of fatal overdoses in Dublin.
