Sudan repeals alcohol prohibition laws

The transitional government in Sudan has announced that it will repeal ‘moral policing’ laws that have, until now, criminalised alcohol consumption. The laws have been in place since the introduction of the Public Order Act in 1992 which saw those caught drinking alcohol face sentences including prison, fines and lashing.
