Small decline in Scottish drug-related deaths

The Scottish government has reported that the number of drug-related deaths in the first 6 months of 2021 remained relatively stable, dropping slightly from 731 to 722. The data are taken from police accounts and initial enquiries at the scene of death. The figures therefore differ from those published by National Records of Scotland (NRS), which uses data from registered deaths.
