Sierra Leone to breathalyse drivers

The Roads Safety Authority in Sierra Leone has announced it is introducing regulations to breathalyse drivers who are suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol. According to figures released by the Roads Safety Authority, drink driving and speeding were the ‘main causes’ of the 867 deaths from 2,763 road traffic accidents reported in 2020. Once the regulations are implemented, drivers who are stopped and who give a positive breath test will be handed over to the police.
