Schools sue McKinsey & Co. about education costs of opioid epidemic

The management consultancy firm McKinsey & Co. has been issued with a lawsuit from school districts in Kentucky and West Virginia. The complainants allege that, as a result of McKinsey’s marketing campaigns for opioid painkillers, the schools faced rising costs arising from the US opioid epidemic. The costs relate to a rise in ‘Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome’ and a subsequent increase in students who needed ‘extra interventions and support’ throughout their education.
