Rwanda builds first criminal justice drug rehabilitation centre for women

Rwanda has started construction on the country’s first rehabilitation centre for women. The centre will be used for people convicted of ‘petty crimes’ including drug abuse and aims to rehabilitate and reintegrate people into their communities. The centre, being built in the Bugesera district, is due to open in December 2020 and will cost an estimated Rwf2.9bn (approx. $3m).
