Russian alcohol consumption down by 43%

A report from the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicates that alcohol consumption in Russia reduced by 43% between 2003 and 2016. The report has attributed the reduction to a range of alcohol control policies such as restrictions on advertising, restrictions on sales and increased alcohol taxes. The report also highlighted reduced alcohol-related mortality and decreases in alcohol-related deaths in the same period.
