Report on torture implicates Mexico’s drug war

The Mexican Commission for the Defence and Promotion of Human Rights (Comisión Mexicana para la Defensa y Promoción de los Derechos Humanos — CMDPDH) has reported that around half of the 27,000 allegations of torture between 2006 and 2018 related to armed forces deployed to fight a war on drugs by then President Felipe Calderón. Just 1% of those allegations of torture have resulted in a conviction.
