Plain packing for tobacco to be implemented in the Netherlands in 2020

A Junior health minister in the Netherlands, Paul Blokhuis, has announced that from January 2020 cigarettes will be sold in standardised packaging with no branded logos. The changes are designed to prevent tobacco companies selling products in attractive packets, particularly where they may be attractive to children. The new regulations will apply to rolling tobacco with similar plans for e-cigarettes packaging to be considered for 2022.
