Pakastani government requests removal of tobacco from narcotics list

The president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anjuman Kashtakaran, has requested for tobacco to be removed from Pakistan’s narcotics list and designated as a crop. He further requested for the Pakistan Tobacco Board to be relocated to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which produces 97% of the country’s tobacco. The proposed changes would reduce the taxes paid by tobacco farmers.
