Opioid vending machine opens in Canada

A drug treatment project in Vancouver, Canada, has installed a vending machine that can dispense hydromorphone to people in treatment for opioid addiction. The Mysafe vending machine is currently used by 14 patients. It uses biometric fingerprint scan technology to identify registered patients and can dispense the medication four times per day for each patient according to his or her prescription.
