Mexico extends cannabis legalisation deadline due to COVID-19 delays

The Mexican supreme court has extended the deadline for cannabis legalisation to be signed into law. The legislation was previously given a ‘one time only’ extension in October 2019 after the Senate failed to reach a consensus. This deadline has now been extended a second time after the 30th April deadline was missed due to COVID-19 related delays on all government activity. The legislation is now expected to be approved during the Senate session beginning in September 2020.
