Lidl halts cigarette sales in the Netherlands

The supermarket Lidl has stopped cigarette and tobacco sales in the Netherlands. In 2018, the company announced it would cease selling all tobacco products by 2022. This has been implemented earlier than expected in the Netherlands, with all 440 stores now tobacco free. Lidl is the first supermarket in the country to stop selling tobacco.
