Irish government proposes new betting limit

Fine Gael Senator Joe O’Reilly has proposed a €100 limit (approx. £85) on all betting stakes, saying that the limit would help address problematic gambling in Ireland. The senator also proposed a ban on using credit cards to gamble, meaning that people would only be allowed to gamble using cash or debit cards. The proposal comes as Ireland’s Gambling Control Bill 2021 is still being debated.
