Ireland to increase excise duty on cigarettes

Ireland’s government has announced that it will increase excise duty on cigarettes as part of the 2022 budget. For the sixth consecutive year, excise duty has increased by 50c (approximately 42p). Ireland’s Minister for Finance said that the increase is intended to reduce smoking among young people.
