Ireland’s alcohol sales up since COVID-19 restrictions

Alcohol sales in Ireland were 58% higher in the week ending 19 April 2020 compared with the same week in 2019. The increase has been attributed to increased alcohol consumption as well as displacement of business from pubs to retail as pubs close to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
