India bans e-cigarettes

The Indian government has announced a ban on e-cigarettes. The executive order prohibits the production, import and sale of e-cigarettes, but does not appear to prohibit e-cigarette use. Those caught breaking the ban could face a fine of up to 100,000 rupees and one year in prison, with repeat offenders liable for a fine of up to 500,000 rupees and five years in prison. The ban will also apply to heat-not-burn and e-hookah devices.
