India bans alcohol and tobacco sales to prevent spread of COVID-19

The Indian government has banned alcohol and tobacco sales as part of a range of measures designed to help enforce social distancing measures and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The bans were implemented under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and will remain in place until current COVID-19 lock-down measures are lifted.
