Four in ten US drug arrests for cannabis

Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) show that there are more arrests in the US for cannabis than for any other drug, despite cannabis being legal in many states. In 2018 there were around 663,000 cannabis related arrests, accounting for approximately 40% of drug arrests in that year. Heroin and cocaine accounted for 25% of arrests, synthetic drugs for 6% and ‘other’ drugs for 29%.
