Europeans spend EUR11.6bn per year on illegal cannabis

The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) has reported an increase in the EU illicit drug trade. They estimate that the trade in illegal drugs was worth around EUR30bn in 2017, just under 40% of which was attributed to cannabis. The EMCDDA also report that, in 2017, around EUR9bn was spent on cocaine in the EU.
