England local authorities ban smoking outside pubs and restaurants

Five local authorities in England have banned smoking on the pavement outside bars, restaurants, and cafés. The new measures align with the government’s strategy to make England smoke-free by 2025; however, the measures have been implemented earlier than expected because of the increase in outdoor dining whilst COVID-19 restrictions were in place.
