Denver votes to decriminalise magic mushrooms
The US city of Denver has voted to decriminalise magic mushrooms through a public vote that passed with a 50.6% majority. Magic mushrooms and their active ingredient, psilocybin, will remain illegal as a scheduled drug; however, police will no longer treat possession for personal use as a criminal matter. Denver is the first US city to pass such legislation for magic mushrooms; however, campaigns have started in the states of California and Oregon for similar public votes in 2020.
