Costa Rica reports increased deaths from illicit alcohol

Costa Rica’s Ministry of Health has confirmed that 59 people have been poisoned and 25 people killed since June 2019 due to methanol poisoning from drinking illicit alcohol. The Ministry has released a health warning for nine brands of alcohol that it claims have been tainted. It has also published information on how to spot the signs of methanol poisoning.
