Columbia University trials vaccine for opioid use disorder

Researchers at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons are trialling the first experimental vaccine for treating opioid use disorder. The experimental vaccine, which can last for several months, is designed to prevent oxycodone from getting to the brain. The vaccine is currently undergoing a phase 1a/1b clinical trial, before being tested in phase 2 and 3 trials to determine efficacy.
