Australia imposes local alcohol limits during COVID-19 lock-downs

Residents in New South Wales Health’s controlled accommodation face restrictions on the amount of alcohol they are permitted during the most recent COVID-19 lock-down. Residents of a Sydney tower block under strict lock-down restrictions have been limited to six beers per day. Residents have claimed that care parcels from relatives are being searched and any alcoholic drinks removed. Authorities state that the restrictions have been imposed to ‘ensure the safety of health staff and residents’.
